These are the current Finalists for the 29th Sexual Freedom Awards. More to come so do check back! The Sexual Freedom Awards - honouring practitioners, performers and activists who promote sexually positive attitudes – will be held in London, U.K. on Sunday 11th May, 2025.  These are uniquely independent and inclusive international Awards – with their famous, hand-carved, ' golden flying cock' trophy. Performer and Stripper finlaists showcase their acts during the Awards ceremony.

A long-list for each Award category is compiled from nominations from the public and a short-list, usually of 3 Finalists per category, is selected by a panel of expert judges who announce winners on the night. We salute all nominees & Finalists!  

The Finalists remain featured here as a tribute their outstanding contributions to the myriad worlds of sexual freedom and expression.

Activist of the Year

Lina Bembe is an award-winning activist, porn performer, filmmaker, educator, and TEDx speaker with over a decade of experience in the adult film industry. She has worked across a variety of projects, from mainstream porn to feminist-driven and DIY queer post-porn, as well as explicit sex education.

Société Noir is a transformative community founded by Black women, designed to empower and support queer women of colour (including trans women) and non-binary people of colour. The organisation recognises the complex, intersectional experiences of those marginalised by race, gender, and sexuality, centring joy, liberation, and playful self-expression in all their endeavours.

At its core, Société Noir is firmly rooted in healing intergenerational trauma, challenging systemic oppression, celebrating sexual liberation, and uplifting diverse queer representation. The community provides brave spaces for vulnerability, connection, and joyful self-expression, as well as sexual health and wellness education, and networking events.

PURR

PURR is a pole showcase like no other that platforms alternative pole performers, particularly highlighting sex workers, BIPOC and queer artists. PURR is the first pole showcase of its kind in Brighton, mixing the format of a gritty cabaret show with a dazzling pole showcase that features a lineup of artists from Brighton and beyond.

PURR was founded and is co-produced by Emily Meow (a queer femme Events Producer and DJ) and Sabrina Jane (pansexual poly pole master and 2022 Stripper of the Year) who teamed up with the intent to create a community space that makes the art of pole more accessible for those who can't make it to nightlife events or strip clubs, as well as giving the dancers themselves a space to perform with no boundaries or expectations. PURR's last three events have been a sell out success, so far welcoming a dozen pole dancers to the stage, hosted by Sabrina themselves. From blood pours at Halloween to raining petals at their Valentine's Day party, PURR's journey has only just begun yet has already solidified itself in Brighton's pole history as well as cultivated its own cult community following.

Riot Party

Riot Party is a POC and Sex Worker Led queer intersectional sex positive rave that centres and celebrates marginalised communities. Founded as a response to a lack of diversity in kink spaces, they create intentional spaces for anyone who exists beyond the margins. Blending activism with hedonism, they curate spaces for exploration, education, and discovery. 

In 2024, they launched the world's first Sex Worker Pride Festival in collaboration with One Night Parties. The festival served as a platform for numerous grassroots sex worker collectives, showcasing the remarkable impact of their work on a larger scale. 

In addition, Riot hosted a dedicated UK Black Pride event featuring an exclusively Black lineup of multi-genre DJs and performers. This landmark celebration served as a powerful intervention and reclamation of kink spaces which have long been dominated by Eurocentric narratives.

Riot Party has become a staple of the sex positive scene, and creates regular paid work for marginalised creatives and community members across multiple cities. Quinn MX

Quinn is a non-binary stripper, instructor, artist, and events organizer based in Brighton. Beginning their stripping career in 2023, they quickly became known as the ADHD high-energy emo stripper, dedicated to uplifting queer strippers across the UK.

As a Fine Art student, Quinn integrates pole and stripping into their artistic practice, currently surprising tutors by bringing an X-POLE into their final exhibition. They also volunteer teach at Sussex University Pole Society and work at Gemini Pole Studio, a queer, sex worker, and neurodivergent-owned space promoting accessible pole learning through affordable classes for students and ensuring the roots of pole are everywhere.

Quinn founded TOX!C, a queer strip night showcasing a diverse roster of dancers and creating a safe space for LGBTQIA+ strippers and custies. From a stripper mindset they implement what the dancer wants; no house fees, equal pay from ticket sales, tipping dollars, no percentage taken from dances and dancer autonomy. Most importantly, they prioritize trans and POC strippers as resident dancers by cultivating a night that is safe to work.

Writer of the Year


Carmen Yau

Carmen Yau is a Lecturer in Social Work at Goldsmiths, University of London. She is a multi-award winner - Disability Power 100 (2024), UN Women’s Rise and Raise Other Award nominee (2021), Tatler’s Hot List of “Sixteen Women Fighting for Fairness in Asia” (2020). Her work includes disability-affirmative sex education, restorative justice in domestic and sexual violence, sex volunteering services, “crip” experience in kink and fetish, and radical professional practices. Her current study on “AI-powered PhotoVoice in Erotica” spotlight her bold and revolutionary approach to research and advocacy in sexuality.

Carmen is a prolific and trailblazing erotica writer who is the first author to coin the term "Crip Slut" in Asian literature that unapologetically centers disabled bodies in erotic storytelling. Carmen has pioneered the "Crip Slut" genre as a revolutionary act of defiance, reclaiming both words—“crip” as a proud, politicized identity within the disability justice movement, and “slut” as a rejection of sexual shame and control. Carmen’s evocative prose is an Asian cultural force to dismantle the ableist and Eurocentric narratives. She has inspired a new wave of "Crip Slut" that all bodies are celebrated, all pleasures are valid, and no one is left in the margins of desire.

CJ Debarra is a non binary, queer, disabled author and journalist. They are the author of Neuroqueer: A Neurodivergent Guide to Love, Sex, and Everything in Between. As a neurodivergent individual, CJ uses their personal experiences to challenge societal norms and create inclusive, empowering spaces for those with ADHD, non-binary, and trans identities. They wrote the book after they realised there was nothing out there for ADHD women, nonbinary and transgender people around sex, sex toys or sexual health.

Through their book tour, CJ has provided a platform for meaningful connection, offering workshops and discussions that foster radical ADHD acceptance. Their work creates safe spaces where neurodivergent individuals can explore topics around love, relationships, and intimacy. By providing both practical advice and emotional support, CJ's tour has been a vital resource for those seeking to navigate the complexities of neurodivergence in a world that often overlooks them.

Topher Taylor

Topher Taylor is a self-proclaimed ‘Tart with a Heart’ - a working-class South Londoner who has been making noise in the adult industry since 2009, mainly through the written word, adult retail, and content creation.

A prolific journalist, columnist, and storyteller, he has contributed to Cosmopolitan UK, Marie Claire, Numan, NetDoctor, COMPLEX, MEL, Mashable, InsideHook, and countless queer publications over the years. His work tackles everything from sex toys and pleasure to LGBTQ+ issues, surviving right-wing attacks on queerness, and sexual health - all with his no-nonsense and honest sex-positivity.

Topher has held popular monthly columns in QX Men Magazine (reviewing sex toys monthly for years), Erotic Trade Only Magazine (ETO), and is currently a monthly columnist for Gay London Life, covering sex toys, relationships, and queer culture with a provocative and ‘learn from my mistakes’ tone. He is known for his deeply personal guides, including the widely shared “Getting into ANAL for Beginners” and “How I Got into the Adult Industry,” which eventually got published by GMFA (the gay men’s health charity).

Topher has helped countless adult, sexual health, and wellness brands write content for their websites, product packaging, how-to guides, and press releases. Beyond writing, Topher’s work has landed him on TV, radio, hosting and co-hosting award-winning podcasts, going viral on social media, and even the cover of FS Magazine.
